State Parks in Arizona

Arizona has no shortage of state and national parks. You can spend a few day exploring their trails and byways or simply sit and relax.

  • Picacho Peak State Park (Casa Grande) – This is the site of the only Civil War battle fought in Arizona. Enjoy hiking and picnics in this historic location.
  • Riordan Mansion State Historic Park (Flagstaff) – A 6 acre park with picnic area and guided tours of the Riordan Mansion. The mansion was built in 1904 by Michael and Timothy Riordan and contains mementos, original artifacts and handmade furniture.
  • Lake Havasu State Park - Located 23 miles of the shoreline of Windsor Beach, this 13,000 acre park offers swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, and camping.

  • Lost Dutchman State Park (Parker) – This park overlooks the Colorado river. Park offerings are fishing, boating, jet and water skiing, golfing, rock climbing and hunting.
  • Homolovi Ruins State Park (Winslow) – Here you will find 6 Anasazi ruins from A.D. 1250-1450. The nearby Arizona St. Museum occasionally leads excavations in June and July.
  • Red Rock State Park (Sedona area) - Thought by many to be one of the best in Arizona, this beautiful park offers 286 acres where you can picnic, hike and enjoy the water.
  • Slide Rock State Park (Sedona) - Here you will find a 43 acre day-use park near the beautiful Oak Creek. Activities include swimming, a natural stone waterslide, hiking, picnicking, and fishing.
